PAINTING AT THE NEW YORK STUDIO SCHOOL FOR DRAWING, PAINTING AND SCULPTURE was the beginning of my real education. Our class had the privilege of being taught by unique artists such as Mercedes Matter, Murray Reich, Nicolas Carone, Paul Georges, and Sidney Geist. We were put to work drawing and painting endlessly without interruption. I learned how to see from some of the best artists. That set the pace for the rest of my career.

I SLOWLY SLIPPED INTO THE POND. THE WATER WAS ICE COLD. IT'S SURFACE HOWEVER WAS WARM. I FELT IMMEDIATE RELIEF FROM THE SUMMER HEAT. I WAS FLOATING. THE SUN WAS FACING ME AND THE BACK HALF OF MY BODY WAS CONFINED IN THE ICEY BATH. MY THOUGHTS HAD AN OPPORTUNITY TO WANDER AROUND, OUT OF THE POND, BEYOND MOUNTAINS AND INTO THE SKY.
